About Doncaster

Doncaster is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 14 km north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District. The suburb, locally known as "Donny", just as its namesake in Great Britain, is situated on the top of the 120 metres high Doncaster Hill. You can have a great city view on when you are in Doncaster.



Doncaster is 3km from Box Hill railway station its closest and has several direct bus routes to the CBD and has three entrances to the Eastern Freeway in both directions and outside of peak times travelling time to the CBD is approximately 15 mins or 10 mins to Collingwood. There are also two orbital SmartBuses (902 and 903) which travels through Doncaster from Airport West to Chelsea and Altona to Mordialloc respectively.



Doncaster is also famous for its Westfield Shopping Centre, built on the corner of Doncaster and Williamsons Roads. In the early 1980s and again in the early 1990s, it was renovated and extended. It was also revitalised in 2008, improving and enlarging the centre dramatically. Nowadays, it has started construction on a dining development. This space, currently home to six restaurants, will transform into a ‘modern-village’ style rooftop dining and entertainment precinct complete with up to 14 restaurants and is due for completion in 2020.



Doncaster also has some famous college and schools, including Doncaster Secondary College, Birralee Primary School, St. Gregory the Great Primary School and Doncaster Primary School.
